American basketball star's interest in team management
According to Eviralnews, Michael Jordan, the American basketball legend, was the first NBA player who bought the shares of the Charlotte Hornets team, opening the way for other rich stars of the league to own teams and share.
Grant Hill, Shaquille O'Neal, Dwyane Wade and Magic Johnson were other players who bought shares of some NBA teams. LeBron James has also announced that if there is a team from Las Vegas in the NBA, he will buy its shares.
Stephen Curry, the superstar of the Golden State Warriors team, also announced in a TV show that he is interested in team management. He said: Teaming is one of the options on my table. I think I can help maintain the quality of the NBA and do what it takes to lead a team to a championship. There is still a lot of work for me on the pitch though.
Curry recently extended his contract with the Warriors for $62.6 million and will play for the team for another 3 years (age 39).
The average value of a team in the NBA is about 6 billion dollars, to which must be added the heavy expenses of the team.
