Kremlin: Putin and Trump have no conversation about Ukraine

Eviralnews, quoted by “Novosti” news agency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced to reporters this afternoon that the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, do not have any discussions with each other regarding Ukraine. In this way, he rejected the information published in some Western media that the Russian leader and the candidate for the upcoming US presidential election are discussing the conditions for achieving peace in Ukraine.

Peskov emphasized: “Such a thing is not true.”

Previously, at the end of June, Trump announced in his televised debate with the current US President, Joe Biden, that the conditions proposed by Putin to reach peace in Ukraine are not acceptable to him.

The subject of the talks between Putin and Erdogan on the sidelines of the Astana summit

In response to another question, the Kremlin spokesperson also reminded that the presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, will discuss the prospect of Putin's visit to Turkey today in their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Astana.

Dmitry Peskov said: “The issue of President Putin's visit to the Republic of Turkey is still on the agenda, and this visit will definitely take place and its time will be announced after the final agreement.” “Today is a good opportunity to discuss the prospects of this trip.”

He emphasized that the decision to meet the leaders in Astana was made bilaterally and this bilateral meeting is supposed to last for at least one hour.

The Kremlin spokesman pointed out that there are unresolved issues between Moscow and Ankara, which reflect the natural process of relations between the two countries, as these issues inevitably arise wherever major bilateral work is done. According to him, there is a political will to solve these problems and there is a necessary level of intergovernmental relations and trade-economic interaction.

Peskov added that the situation in Syria is on the agenda of the meeting between Putin and Erdogan. He reminded that Russia has made many efforts to establish peace in this country and welcomes the settlement process in this country. In addition, the leaders of the two countries will also discuss the Ukraine crisis.

Also, the press secretary of the Russian President announced that on the sidelines of the summit, Putin will have the opportunity to talk with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres. Most likely, the meeting will be informal, as separate bilateral talks are not planned.

Referring to the cooperation between Russia and China in sensitive fields

In another part of his speech, Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Russia and China cooperate in all fields, including sensitive ones. He pointed to the high volume of trade between Russia and China and added: “We have developed trade-economic relations with China, and the volume of trade between the two countries has exceeded 200 billion dollars. “At the same time, we cooperate with China in all areas, including sensitive areas.”

Vladimir Putin himself recalled in May that the cooperation between Russia and China is constantly improving and diversifying, strengthening in new areas. The Russian President emphasized that relations between Moscow and Beijing have reached their highest historical level and that the People's Republic of China is still one of Russia's most reliable partners in the world.
