Macron offered Durov to transfer the Telegram office to Paris

The American newspaper Wall Street Journal reported that in 2018, the president of France offered the director of Telegram to give him French citizenship in exchange for moving the Telegram office to Paris.

Eviralnews,, the American newspaper Wall Street Journal, quoting informed sources, reported that in 2018, French President Emmanuel Macron suggested to Telegram director Pavel Durov to move the offices of this social network to Paris. He faced Durov's opponent. A well-informed source told the Wall Street Journal that the French president had promised to grant Durov French citizenship at the time.

Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram Messenger, was arrested on Sunday (August 24, 4 Shahrivar) when he arrived from the Republic of Azerbaijan to Bourget Airport, located in the northeastern suburbs of Paris.

The Paris prosecutor's office later announced that Durov had been detained for questioning in a 12-count case opened on July 8 against an unidentified person.

Following the national reactions to the arrest of Telegram's manager, French President Emmanuel Macron said that this arrest is not political and is part of an independent investigation into some crimes on the platform of this social network.

French authorities say they are investigating Durov's role in concealing information about illegal activities on the Internet, including in Paris, and believe Durov may be complicit in crimes such as child abuse and drug trafficking. France has also accused Durov of not wanting to cooperate with French authorities in providing them with information.

According to the French press, the director of Telegram faces a sentence of up to 20 years in prison. Durov's arrest brought many reactions, so yesterday (Tuesday), the head of the Russian Duma stated that it is important for Biden to control Telegram on the eve of the US presidential election.

He continued that Telegram is one of the few and at the same time the largest internet platform that is not under the influence of the American government. The owner and founder of Telegram is in French prison at the encouragement of the American government.
