Maklele became the head coach of the Greek team

Former Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele has been officially announced as the new head coach of Greek club Astras Tripoli. This news was announced through the official social media channels of this club. Along with Maklele, former Leeds United coach Nigel Gibbs and former Paris Saint-Germain fitness coach Raphael Favre have also joined the coaching staff.

Maklele has not managed any team since leaving the Belgian Open club in 2019 and was also the head coach of Bastia in 2014.

The former star of the French national team, despite being away from direct leadership of a team for 5 years, was still active in the field of coaching, and worked as a youth coach at Cobham Chelsea Academy and was responsible for the development of Chelsea's loan players. According to Foot Mercato, Maklele has signed an initial one-year contract with Astras Tripolis, with the possibility of an extension for another year.
