Legendary Newcastle striker Alan Shearer believes Manchester City's Erling Holland is the best striker in the world right now, but doubts Holland can break his Premier League goalscoring record.
Referring to Holland's brilliant performance, who scored a hat-trick in City's 3-1 win against West Ham and took his total to seven goals this season and 70 goals in 69 Premier League games, Shearer said that Holland is currently the best striker in the world. . But due to the uncertainty about the future of Manchester City and the possibility of Holland leaving the team, he is not sure that Holland can break his record of 260 goals.
“If Harry Kane comes back to the Premier League in a few years, he might break my record,” Shearer told Betfair. “But if Holland stays here for another five or six years and continues like this, he will definitely break my record.”
He added: “We have to wait and see what happens; “Manchester City's situation and the issues surrounding it, as well as Pep Guardiola's situation and how long he will be at the club, these are all big questions.”
Shearer also pointed to Holland's attacking qualities and described his scoring ability as excellent, saying: “Holland is now the best striker in the world. He plays in the toughest league in the world and scores easily. “There is no one better than him right now.”
