Russia sanctions about 100 American citizens

According to the Tasnim International News Agency, citing Reuters, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that it has banned the entry of 92 American citizens, including journalists, lawyers and heads of important military-industrial companies, due to Washington's Russophobic stance.

The war in Ukraine has greatly intensified the crisis in the relations between Moscow and Washington and brought it to an unprecedented level since the Cold War.

The list, published by the ministry on Telegram, includes 14 employees of the Wall Street Journal, five journalists of the New York Times and four journalists from the Washington Post.

The ministry said it targeted editorial staff and reporters of “prominent liberal-globalist publications” that produce and publish “fake” news about Russia's armed forces.

The Russian Foreign Ministry continued that these bans are in response to the Biden administration's “Rossophobia,” an important part of which has been extensive sanctions against Russian politicians, business figures, scientists, and journalists.
