The formation of a new government demanded by the Libyan Electoral Committee

According to the international news agency Tasnim, the parliamentary and presidential elections were supposed to be held in Libya at the end of 2021, but due to the continuing disputes regarding the election law and the lack of necessary platforms for holding them, the said elections were not held.

The Libyan parliament (East camp) and the Supreme Council of Government (West camp) agreed to form a joint committee to develop electoral laws based on the agreement of both sides. After drafting these laws and signing them by the President of the Parliament and the President of the Supreme Council of the Government, a new government (advancement of affairs) will be formed to hold the parliamentary and presidential elections based on the approved laws.

Libya's “6+6” Election Laws Drafting Committee called for the formation of a new government (advancement of affairs) in this country to prepare for the holding of parliamentary and presidential elections and supervise their implementation.

The 6+6 committee consists of representatives of the parliament (eastern camp) and the Supreme Council of Government (western camp) of Libya. This committee announced by publishing a statement: The electoral laws were drafted and approved legally and with the full agreement of the members of the parliament and the Supreme Council of the government, and they are widely welcomed and supported by the people.

The “6+6” committee has announced in its statement: along with the electoral rules, it has presented a proposal package for its implementation and is ready to hold a meeting with the players in this field at any time.

Since the overthrow of the government of Moammar al-Qaddafi, the former dictator of this country, Libya has entered a phase of political chaos, and during this period, this African country is witnessing the rule of two governments (in the east and the west). In recent years, after the conflicts in Libya, which are mostly proxies, opened the feet of regional and international powers to this country, political actors decided to end the two-state rule and restore national sovereignty to this country.
