Emiliano Martinez has been banned from the next two matches of the Argentina national team due to offensive behavior by FIFA. This suspension is related to two incidents in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Colombia.
In a match against Chile on 6 September, Martínez made an inappropriate gesture, and on 10 September he hit a cameraman's camera after a 2–1 loss to Colombia.
The Argentine Football Federation has opposed this ban, but has held Martinez responsible for his actions. Due to this suspension, he will miss the qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia in October.
