X network is blocked in Brazil

According to the ruling of the Supreme Court of Brazil, X social network was blocked in this country. This sentence led to the protest of Elon Musk and the reaction of the president of Brazil.

Eviralnews,, quoted by Reuters The telecommunications regulatory body in Brazil announced that it will block access to the social network X (formerly Twitter) according to the ruling of the Supreme Court judge of this country.

The ruling comes after Elon Musk missed a deadline to appoint a legal representative in Brazil. On August 28, Judge Alexandre de Moraes warned Musk that if he did not introduce a representative of the X social network in Brazil within 24 hours, the social network would be filtered.

Criticizing Judge Brazil's actions, Musk called the court's ruling an unjustified censorship, and Judge Moraes emphasized the need to monitor social media to fight false information and hateful content.
According to Brazilian law, the activity of foreign companies in the country is subject to having a legal representative, but according to reports, X has not had a legal representative in Brazil since the beginning of this month.
Expressing disappointment with Brazil's action, Musk said: “They are shutting down the number 1 source of truth in Brazil.”

According to the order of the judge of the Supreme Court of Brazil, Internet service providers and application stores have a maximum of 5 days to block the access of users in this country to the X social network. As of Friday evening, some users in Brazil reported losing access to X Network. According to Moraes, failure to comply with this law includes paying a fine of more than 3 million dollars.

Referring to the issue of national sovereignty, Alexander de Moraes wrote in his ruling: “Elan Musk has shown complete disrespect towards the Brazilian government and especially the judicial system of this country and has assumed himself as a transnational institution and immune from the internal laws of the countries. »

The controversy prompted Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to insist that all businesses must adhere to local laws, citing Musk's wealth as a reason to ignore them.
In addition to suspending X Network, the judge ordered the freezing of Starlink's bank accounts in Brazil. Claiming to comply with court orders, Starlink requested a stay of the decision, but this request was denied.

Musk closed all of its representative offices in Brazil as a result of the ruling, but said that Starlink will continue to operate in the country and that its services will be free until the dispute is resolved.
Businesses and individuals who access X by bypassing filtering and using VPNs will face heavy financial fines of up to $9,000 per day.

Judge Moraes has stressed that those who undermine democracy and human rights must be held accountable, reflecting ongoing tensions between Brazil's judiciary and Musk's investments in the country.
