Joint naval exercise between Russia and Egypt in the Mediterranean waters
According to the report of Tasnim News Agency, quoted by “Novesti” news agency, the Ministry of Defense of Russia reported this morning, Saturday, that a joint exercise between the Russian Navy and the Egyptian Navy will be held in the Mediterranean Sea.
The message published on the ministry's official website states: This exercise will be held in the PASSEX format with the aim of coordinating joint actions, communication training and inspection actions.
According to this information, from the Russian side, the missile cruiser “Varyag” and frigate “Seaman Shaposhnikov” will participate in this exercise. And the ENS Al Qadeer frigate belonging to the Egyptian Navy also participates in this exercise.
Last week, the Ministry of Defense of Russia reported that a group of warships of the Russian Navy, consisting of these two Russian warships, entered the port of Alexandria, Egypt, according to a previous plan, and are going to participate in joint naval exercises.
The crews of the Russian ships were welcomed by the representatives of the Egyptian Navy Command upon their arrival in this port and joint plans were planned for them. The warships will remain in Alexandria until Saturday, and then their presence will end by participating in a bilateral exercise.
