World Bank: Iranian people's use of the Internet is higher than the average of the world and the Middle East

According to Tasnim news agency, the World Bank has analyzed the state of digital development in the world in a recently published report.

In a part of this report, 217 countries and autonomous regions in the world are ranked in terms of e-government index. Iran scored 0.64 in the e-government index and is ranked 73rd in the world. Based on this, the development of electronic government in Iran has been more than 144 governments and less than 72 governments.

In this report, each country is given a score from zero to one in the e-government index, and the more activities and services the government of a country provides electronically, the higher the score is given to it.

Among the countries that are less developed in terms of electronic government than Iran are: Algeria, Egypt, Cuba, India, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya and Pakistan.

The scores of some other countries that are ranked higher than Iran are: France 0.88, Germany 0.88, Japan 0.9, Kuwait 0.75, China 0.81, Qatar 0.71, Turkey 0.8, and America 0.92.

Iranian people's use of the Internet was higher than the world average

According to this report, 79 percent of Iranian people use the Internet, which is much higher than the world average. Globally, an average of 66% of people use the Internet. The amount of internet usage in Iran is also higher than the Middle East average, which is 76%.

World Bank statistics also show that 12 out of every 100 people in Iran have fixed internet. This number is 18 people on average in the world and 14 people out of 100 people in the Middle East have fixed internet.

The number of people who use mobile internet is also 51% of the total population of Iran. This figure is equal to the Middle East average. 56% of the world's population also use mobile internet.

Receiving and paying digital money in Iran is 2 times the average of the Middle East

58% of the world's population over 15 years of age have paid or received money with a digital instrument at least once. This figure for the Middle East was only 41%; But this figure has been doubled for Iran. In other words, 84% of Iranian people have received or paid money at least once with digital tools.

The market value of information technology services in Iran is also estimated at 6.2 billion dollars and 224 thousand people work in this sector.
