Actionner's farewell to the “good” party; A woman with strategic mistakes

According to the report of the international group of Tasnim news agency, Mrs. Meral Aksner, the leader of one of the most important political parties in Turkey, left the leadership seat and took responsibility for the defeat of the “Good Party” in the recent elections.

As a nationalist and authoritarian female politician who worked as the Minister of Interior in the Erbakan-Chiller coalition government, Meral Aksner has become one of the most important political figures in Turkey in the past few years. But now his petition has practically been messed up and someone else is going to take over the leadership of the party.

Actionner, who appeared on the political scene as the most important female politician in the history of the Republic of Turkey after the former Prime Minister Tansu Ciller, has seriously influenced the process of social-political developments in her country in the past years, and the evidence shows that she is in the presidential election. The Republic caused irreparable damage to the opposition front and in two rounds of the presidential elections, it practically adopted positions, the final result of which was in favor of Erdogan and against the opposition.

Meral Aksner announced before his party's congress and in his farewell speech that he received death threats a few months ago.

Why was the rise of the actioner important?
Achieving victory and entering the parliament and government in Turkey's political and party environment is not an easy task. Many of Turkey's old parties, after several decades of activity, do not have even one seat out of six hundred seats in the parliament, and several important parties have only one or two seats after decades of efforts. But the good party led by Mrs. Achsner, as a newly established party, won sixty seats, which was unprecedented in its kind. But later, Actionner's party had internal divisions and many representatives joined other parties. So now, the mentioned party has only 38 seats in the parliament.

One of the most important reasons for the internal differences of the Good Party was that most of the leaders and powerful figures of the party were people who, along with Actionner himself, had split and separated from the Nationalist Movement Party as opponents of the continued leadership of the Bagheli government. But after the establishment of the new party, complete coherence was not achieved and the power sharing process was objected to.

Zigzag and actioner's strategic errors
During his 30-year political career, Meral Aksner has made different and contradictory decisions. In 2001, he joined the initial group of founders of Justice and Development Party and believed that he could work with Abdullah Gul and others. But just 3 days before announcing the existence of the party, he got angry and went home.

A few years after this incident, Ms. Akhsner went to the National Movement Party and as a nationalist woman, she was noticed by Bagheli. But this friendship only lasted for a few years and Actionner asked Baghcheli to leave the leadership!

Actionner and several other critics of Baghcheli's efforts to hold a congress and remove Baghcheli did not succeed and they had to leave the party. They then established the Good Party as a nationalist party and very soon they were able to attract a significant part of the people to them.

In the 2019 elections, Erdogan's opponents came to the conclusion that they would support Abdullah Gul and make him the president. But Actionner announced that he does not agree with this decision and prefers to run personally!

The opponents also defended Moharram Inje and he got 15 million votes. But Actionner finally got 3,600,000 votes, even though if Gol was nominated, his victory would be certain.

Actionner's next strategic mistake was in the 2023 elections. He agreed to be the main member of the Mellat coalition next to Klichdaroglu. But he had a disagreement with him and got angry. This violence caused heavy damage to the opposition front for several days, and then Actionner returned to the coalition.

After the defeat of the opposition, Actionner broke all the pots and pans against Kılıçdaroğlu and refused to support Imamoğlu in the local elections of 2024 and nominated candidates in all cities besides Istanbul. But it suffered a heavy defeat and the good party won in only one city out of 81 cities in the capital of the province. All these mistakes and totalitarianism finally raised the voice of the party leaders and they asked him to vacate the arena.

Who were worried about Actionner leaving?
Daulat Bagheli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party, and Mustafa Dastiji, the leader of the Nationalist Party of Vahdat, were deeply upset by Actionner's decision. Because announcing his defeat means registering a serious defeat for the entire far-right nationalists of Türkiye.

The current evidence shows that regardless of who becomes the leader of the Good Party, there is currently little hope of restoring its social-political position, and it is unlikely that the Good Party will once again be able to become one of the most important actors in the political arena.
