For the first time, China became the “hypothetical enemy” of the US-Japan joint exercise – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world's news

According to Mehr News Agency, Japan Times claimed in a report that America and Japan have considered China as a hypothetical enemy for the first time in the joint military exercise of the two countries, and it is expected that the level of tension in the Korean Peninsula will intensify even more.

The Japan Times, quoting informed sources, claimed that the forces of the Japanese Ministry of Defense and the US Army jointly started a computer simulation exercise of command centers in February, and for the first time, they considered China as a hypothetical enemy.

The joint exercise, which is expected to last until February 8, has begun at a time when some experts are concerned about a possible attack by Beijing on Taiwan in the near future.

According to Japan Times, in this exercise, an emergency situation in Taiwan is simulated by computer. It is said that the Ministry of Defense of Japan has classified this scenario as a confidential scenario under internal security regulations. In a way, this exercise reflects a sense of urgency and has been held in the midst of escalating geopolitical tensions and growing concern about China's military action against Taiwan in the next few years.

The United States and Japan have a series of joint measures and plans under emergency conditions, and the draft of this plan was completed late last year. The current joint exercise between the US and Japan is being held under the code name “Lebe Bran” and its results will be reflected in the final plan that will be prepared before the end of this year.

The US and Japan have been holding several of their drills, codenamed “Sword Runners”, since 1986 almost every other year. China considers the island of Taiwan a part of its territory and considers the island's high-level relations with the West and vice versa and the sale of weapons from Washington to it as a violation of the “one China” principle.
