Sonak's anti-immigration law is the cause of the influx of immigrants to Ireland

According to the report of Tasnim International News Agency, “Spiegel” weekly wrote in an article: Due to the plan to deport refugees to Rwanda in England, asylum seekers are increasingly seeking asylum in Ireland. But it is not only in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, that these actions of the British government are strongly criticized.

The Irish government reported that more and more refugees are coming to the country. “Michael Martin”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ireland, told the English newspaper Daily Telegraph about this: the controversial asylum policy of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has already affected this country of the European Union. Asylum seekers seek refuge here and within the EU to avoid deportation to Rwanda.

About 80 percent of immigrants come to Ireland through the British province of Northern Ireland, Martin said. After Brexit, Britain and the EU agreed to keep the border open to prevent new conflicts in the former civil war zone.

Social tensions in Ireland have increased recently due to increased immigration. Between May 2022 and April 2023, more than 140,000 people arrived in Ireland, the highest number in 16 years. Right-wing forces claim that immigration exacerbates the acute housing crisis in this country. On the other hand, there are frequent protests from residents.

The British Parliament on Tuesday night, despite criticism and opposition, approved a law in which Rwanda was introduced as a safe third country. The law allows the Conservative government in London to deport asylum seekers who have entered the East African country irregularly. They have to apply for asylum there.

Human rights activists consider this law a violation of international obligations. The Irish government also strongly criticized this project.

Members of the German Parliament also condemned the anti-immigration measures of the British government. In a letter to British Prime Minister Sonnock, 13 politicians from the Social Democratic Party, the Greens and the Christian United Party Union were particularly angry and concerned about the British government's statement that it “no longer wants to respect the interim orders of the European Court of Human Rights.

With this new law of Rishi Sunak's government, the Prime Minister of England no longer wants to give immigrants who enter the country irregularly the opportunity to apply for asylum in England. Instead, they should be able to be deported to Rwanda and apply for asylum there, with no plans to return them to the UK regardless of their true origin.

The purpose of these regulations is to prevent refugees from crossing the English Channel in small boats. The British government is paying millions of dollars to Rwanda for this deal. The British Supreme Court declared this asylum treaty illegal. Critics accuse the East African country of violating human rights.

The new law aims to overturn the High Court ruling by declaring Rwanda a safe third country and preventing appeals in UK courts against deportation. The Refugee Council, which campaigns for refugees in the country, criticized the plan and warned of high costs, chaos and human suffering. The organization said that the government in this way creates the risk of tens of thousands of people being trapped in this system.

After the approval of the law to deport refugees to Rwanda in the British Parliament, the United Nations and the European Council criticized it and accused this country of violating human rights.
