Ukraine removes American Abrams tanks from the battlefield

According to the report of the international group of Tasnim news agency, citing the German “Focus” magazine, Ukraine will withdraw the American tanks from the front line of the battle with Russia. Russian drones make it almost impossible for Ukraine to use these tanks effectively.

Ukraine has decided to keep M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks off its battlefield with Russia for the time being, according to senior US military officials who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. The suspension of the use of this tank is due to the increased threat of Russian drones, which can quickly identify and attack tanks.

The United States of America decided to send 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine in January 2023. The government in Kiev had argued for months that the tanks, which cost about $10 million each, were crucial to breaking Russian lines in the war. However, the battlefield has changed significantly since then, particularly with the use of Russian surveillance drones and hunter-killer drones.

A senior Ukrainian defense official told AP about this: There is no open area that can be easily crossed without fear of detection of these tanks. Due to this new reality, these tanks are now out of the front lines. The United States plans to work with Ukrainian forces to adjust tactics.
