12 reasons for Türkiye to fall on the spot

According to the report of Tasnim International News Agency, these days in Türkiye, everyone is talking about the economic crisis. Because inflation has reached the highest level, every 1 US dollar is equal to 33 liras and the price of 1 liter of gasoline has exceeded 40 liras. However, Erdogan's government and the Justice and Development Party do not have a definite road map to overcome this situation.
One of the international energy and economic experts believes that Turkey, after failing to achieve the goals of the 2023 vision document, should compile and publish the 2030 vision as soon as possible.

Turkey ,
Mehmet Oghutci, who studied economics in Turkey, England and America, was an adviser to the prime minister during the Turgut Özal era, and then worked as an ambassador in several countries.

He is currently the director of one of the most important oil and energy groups in London and has focused his studies on energy, the Middle East and Central Asia. Oghutchi, who is fluent in Chinese in addition to English and French, has written several books on the economic planning of countries.

In the following note, he has analyzed the main structural problems of Türkiye:

Türkiye needs a new program
On the surface, Türkiye has many economic problems. But the fact is that Türkiye is a very rich country. But it needs a new 2030 vision. It really is. Even excluding refugees, we are a middleweight country in the world league with a population of 85 million.

Last year, GDP exceeded $1 trillion for the first time. If you calculate it in purchasing power parity, it looks like we're in the top 10 economies in the world at $2.75 trillion.

When we look at the world map, we see Turkey as a powerful country that is interesting in a wide geography from China to Germany, from Russia to Saudi Arabia, in many aspects such as population, economy, armed forces and human resources, and high cultural richness. has it.

Turkey ,
We are uniquely rich with our history, human capital, economic resources, nature, geography and neighbors, and without a doubt, our potential is limitless.

Turkey's infrastructure is solid, even better in some ways than not only the Middle Eastern and Eurasian countries, but also many European countries and the United States.

Our healthcare system is also at a high level. We are among the leading countries in the transformation of green energy. But here is the question: If we are a relatively rich country with such solid pillars and infrastructure, then why do we always face a series of big problems, some of which really lead us to depression and a sense of failure? Why is Turkey still struggling with big problems?

I have several different answers to the above question and I prefer to categorize them as follows:
1. Turkey because lack of management It cannot allocate its resources sufficiently and intelligently to production, technology and productivity.
2. In the economy We are corruption and rent-seeking Rampant
3. Turkey always the debtor Is. According to the statistics of the central bank, the balance of short-term foreign debt increased to 171.9 billion dollars, and the external debt payable this year is 226.3 billion dollars.
3. Turkey in order to secure its interests In the global system, it does not act respectfully, reliably and intelligently.
4. With the exception of a minority, Our youth see low quality education And it does not allow them to play in the world league, and we see brain drain abroad. Because based on their talents, the promise of a satisfactory future is not offered.
5.Sovereignty's understanding of freedomreligion, ethnicity and gender as the territory of the people themselves, is low.
6. To important principles Like meritocracyculture and art, human values, respect for nature, justice, security and sustainable development are not given importance.
7. Turkey to Environment and historical heritage It does not care and does not protect itself, Original architecture does not develop and Unplanned urban development And it is confused and the place of man and nature in it is unknown.
8. Turkey cannot implement a development model in which clean energy take the first step, develop technology and smart industries, branding increase and bring tourism income to the world championship league.
9. The Turkish government, instead of encouraging Polarization Among people, it is not willing to accept a vision that creates well-defined and shared common goals and excitement.
10Administrative system Türkiye is not related to the level of global expectations and principles of “good governance”.
11. Our government is not used to hiring competent employees, smart leaders and entrepreneurs new generation follow up
12. Turkey cannot create hope and excitement in its youth and sense The orientation of the youth of our country is vague and unclear Is.

Turkey ,
This list can be expanded even more if you push your mind a little more and find more. But overall, my point is, now that we have failed to achieve the goals of the 2023 vision, let's do the right thing for the 2030 vision.

In my opinion, if there is political will and a serious strategic framework is drawn, it is not difficult to solve most of the problems I have listed above. As you know, we failed to reach the 2023 vision. Because there was a big gap between the reality and the goal. Because the mentioned vision was prepared without the consensus of the main actors of the country. As a result, the resources of the country and the people were wasted and the world conditions did not allow it.

In the current situation, a new realistic vision is needed to give a sense of direction to the people, institutions, companies and foreign actors of the country.

In the age of technology that we live in now, it is not logical to think about the long-term plan and all the ways have become shorter. We need to focus on the goals of the next 6 years, not fifteen or twenty years from now.

So, we should start moving towards Türkiye's 2030 vision together from today. This is necessary in order not to miss new opportunities in the global system. For my part, I had mentioned some of my suggestions, even if it was a drop in the ocean, in my book “Turkey's Realistic Roadmap 2023”. Some of them have been accepted and implemented since 2002 by the governments emerging from the Justice and Development Party. But the final results were disappointing.

Now, keeping in mind the changing dynamics and new global game, I am working on vision 2030 and I believe that we all have to step up for the development of the country.
