Asiyab Shah joined history

The water mills of Tehran were used in Tehran until the end of the Qajar period, but with the passage of time, they were not spared from destruction and were destroyed one after another.

According to Hamshahri Online, Ken neighborhood also had four water mills that irrigated the numerous and green gardens of this village. Abdullah Darwish, a poet and researcher, says about the days of Ken's mills: “One of the first mills in Ken, which was known as Levi's mill, was built in Sar Asiyab neighborhood, and the second mill was located in Smalon neighborhood, which now has no name left. »

Darvish says about the most famous water mill in Ken: “Shah's mill, which was adjacent to Hajbashi garden, was used by people until the end of the Qajar period and had glory for itself. “They built a residential building exactly where the water entered the Shah's mill.”

The old days on the historical mills Asiyab Shah joined history

Abdullah Darvish mentions a historical mill as a survivor of the generation of water mills of Ken, whose remains can still be seen: “There was a mill between Kabudak mountain and the iron bridge of Ken village, which is called the historical mill of Ken. This mill had big stones and since it was built on the river, the stones moved due to the water pressure and ground the flour. The historic mill, which is said to be about 400 years old, is located in the northern part of Ken, between Ken and Sulqan, and the only thing left of it is the huge stones that cannot be moved easily.

As the researchers narrate, Ken had as many mills as its aqueducts, and people from Shemiran, Farahzad and Tarasht went to this village to grind flour, but today there are no traces of Ken's cultural heritage except for the historical millstones.
