According to Mehr news agency, several knowledgeable sources told “Middle East Eye” this week that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Egypt next month for the first time in 12 years in order to strengthen Fimabin relations.

Also, 2 Turkish sources familiar with the meeting said that Erdogan is expected to visit Cairo on February 14 (Wednesday; February 25 this year).

Since 2020, Ankara has been trying to mend its strained relationship with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and the two countries' 2022 handshake in Qatar quickly normalized their relationship.

Both countries appointed ambassadors in each other's capitals last July.
