The King of England agrees to Rwanda's anti-immigration law

King Charles III has approved Rwanda's controversial anti-immigration law, which allows migrants to be deported to Rwanda regardless of their true origin, Tasnim International News Agency reports, citing Austrian newspaper Die Presse. England pays millions to this relatively small African country.

In this way, a controversial law was implemented in Britain, with which the British conservative government wants to facilitate the deportation of immigrants to Rwanda. The British Parliament had approved this law despite many criticisms and now it has been approved by King Charles III and has received the approval of the British Royal Family.

In this way, the British Prime Minister Rishi Sonak's government no longer wants to give immigrants who enter the country irregularly the opportunity to apply for asylum in the UK. Instead, they should be able to be deported to Rwanda and apply for asylum there, with no plans to return them to the UK regardless of their true origin.

The purpose of these regulations is to prevent refugees from crossing the English Channel in small boats. The British government is paying millions of dollars to Rwanda for this deal. The British Supreme Court declared this asylum treaty illegal. Critics accuse the East African country of violating human rights.

The new law aims to overturn the High Court ruling by declaring Rwanda a safe third country and preventing appeals in UK courts against deportation. The Refugee Council, which campaigns for refugees in the country, criticized the plan and warned of high costs, chaos and human suffering. The organization said that the government in this way creates the risk of tens of thousands of people being trapped in this system.

After the approval of the law to deport refugees to Rwanda in the British Parliament, the United Nations and the European Council criticized it and accused this country of violating human rights.

England announced this bill two years ago. This project has been described as one of the most important measures in the fight against illegal immigration by the British Conservative government.

Each refugee deported to Rwanda costs the UK around £1.8m (€2.09m). In addition, London has so far deposited £290 million (€33.7 million) without sending a single plane to the East African country.

British Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has repeatedly promised to stop the migrant boats. It was only in February that Britain and the EU's border protection agency Frontex signed an agreement to improve cooperation in the fight against illegal immigration. This cooperation includes the exchange of information to eliminate smuggling gangs and the joint use of drones for border surveillance.
