“Tredz” is temporarily blocked in Türkiye

Meta has announced that it will temporarily shut down social media platform Threads in Turkey starting April 29.

Meta has announced that it will temporarily shut down social media platform Threads in Turkey from April 29 to comply with a temporary order from Turkey's competition authority, Ana Science and Technology news agency reported, citing Reuters.

The company said in a blog post that the move will have no effect on Meta's other social media platforms and services, including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp in Turkey.

Last month, the country's competition authority imposed an interim measure on Facebook's parent company Meta, aimed at preventing data sharing between the Instagram and Trades platforms, as it investigated possible abuse of the company's dominant market position.

However, Meta says he is confident he is not breaking the law in Türkiye. Meta said: We disagree with the temporary order, we believe that we comply with all Turkish legal requirements and we will appeal. Türkiye's temporary order leaves us no choice but to temporarily close trades in this country. We will continue to engage constructively with Turkey and hope to return Treadz to the Turkish people as soon as possible.
