Biography of Athir Akshikati:

Athir al-Din Abulfazl Muhammad bin Tahir Akhsikti, known as Athir Akhsikti, was born in the 6th century of the Hijri in Akhsikt, one of the cities of Abad across the river in the Ferghana region, north of the Sihun River. He started as a poet in his own city, but when the Turks attacked and Khorasan fell into chaos and distress (which is known as the Khorasan terror), he left the eastern regions of Iran and migrated to the west and northwest.

At first, he became a member of Ghiyas al-Din Muhammad bin Malik Shah Seljuq in Hamadan and spent years praising this king, ministers and emirs of the court. In Ghiyathuddin Muhammad's army, he met Alauddin Arabsha, who was the ruler of Kohestan at that time. Arabshah also accepted this poet, for this reason, a long period of this poet's life was spent in separation in Hamadan and Kohestan in the Arabshah's regime.

After Ghiyas al-Din Muhammad passed away, Athir Akhsikti wrote a poem to describe his successor Rukn al-Din Arsalan bin Tughrel Seljuqi and then praised Tughrel ibn Arsalan. Among others, people praised by Athir include Atabkans of Azerbaijan, including Shamsuddin Ildegs and his sons Mohammad Jahan Pahlavan and Qezel Arslan, whose names appear many times in Athir's poems.

Poetry:

Athir Akshikti was contemporary with great poets such as Khaqani Shervani, Nizami Ganjavi, Rashid Watawat, Mujir Bilqani and Zaheer Faryabi, and had relations and conflicts with them. Some of Khaqani's odes have been answered by Athir and this poet considers his base to be higher. There are also stories about the meeting of these two poets, which are mostly legendary.

The contemporary authors of Athir point to the rivalry between him and Mujir Bilqani. In one of this poet's poems, it can be seen that Mujir is called a poem thief, which is given below:

“For the sake of Khwaja Mujir/ my poetry caravans, what woman?”

The rivalry between Athir and Mujir sometimes caused confusion between Mamduhin, for example, Qezel Arslan and Mohammad Jahan Pahlavan, who were brothers, were affected.

Based on the writings of Dolatshah Samarkandi; Some of Abrab Fazl prefer Athir's words to those of Khaqani and Anuri, and others do not consider this claim to be certain. Based on the belief of Badeel Zaman Forozanfar; Athir's tendency to insert rhetorical techniques and narrow meanings makes the poems of this poet warm and refreshing. On the other hand, the skill that this poet had in some sciences such as mathematics, wisdom, medicine, astrology, board, logic, jurisprudence, principles and theology and the scientific reforms used in his poems; It makes the conversation a little more complicated. It seems that the purpose of this poet was to compare with Khaqani and show his ability in complex speech.

The fame that Athir Akhsikti gained was due to his beautiful poems, most of which were written in praise of the sultans and nobles of the sixth century. Although the poet has literary and historical points and benefits, reading them cannot be enjoyed. In contrast, the sonnets of this poet have a clear and tender language. So that in most cases they have romantic themes and soft and short weights.

The acceptability of this poet's sonnets among his contemporaries has been informed by Amin Eliden Haj Yes. Many ethereal poems include quatrains, the number of which reaches 560. Among these quatrains, you can see a lot of tender and lasting songs.

All the poems of this poet are not included in this edition and the quality of its correction has been criticized by Dr. Mohammad Jaafar Mahjoub.

A manuscript of ethereal poems containing 12,000 verses is kept in the library of Hakim Alioglu Pasha in Turkey. The number of poems is twice that of the printed version. Diwani, which has been published from Athir, has been distorted and changed due to various reasons, including the lateness of the corrected version and the lack of access to numerous and earlier versions. Also, some verses have been collected with errors, omissions, ambiguities and complications. .

Some of the verses of this poet are perverted and ambiguous in such a way that they have uncorrectable mistakes, and some other verses are not found in the newly found copies in Diwan Shapi.

The last years of Athir Akshikati's life:

Athir Akshikti spent the last years of his life in the city of Khalkhal and finally died in the same city in 609 AH. It has been stated that it is possible that the poet died in the years 563 and 577 AH, but according to the date of the poems written after these dates, this is not acceptable.

Badi al-Zaman Forozanfar states that Athir was a fanatical and religious poet, so that he provoked his Hanafi followers against the Shafi'is. This issue cannot be accepted for sure, because there is a possibility that the poet himself is one of Shafi'an, also in his divan poems; Two groups have been praised. His praises in praise of Shia imams and Ali in particular are remarkable.

Poem by Athir Akshikati:

To me, it is the fault of everyone, the failure of love and the poverty of everyone

However, in the middle of your meaning, there is no place for herds, because you are everything

They have destroyed existence a hundred times until they rose up like you

Alleluia ! From head to toe, they have poured into the mold of my wish
