Fallout 4's next-gen update is fraught with problems

Fallout fans have been waiting years for a next-gen update to Fallout 4. From the moment this was teased, Bethesda studio remained almost silent about it. Instead, he focused on more important projects like Starfield. Fallout 4's next-gen update finally rolled out on all platforms yesterday, but it wasn't quite the big, major update that fans were hoping for. In short, Fallout 4's next-gen update is a buggy, buggy mess.
If you check out the next-gen update on the Xbox Series X, you'll be amazed at the framerate boost you'll get through the new performance mode, and then you'll be excited by some of the new missions that appeared on the Pip-Boy. But that's where my excitement ended.
Players around the world are experiencing all kinds of issues with Fallout 4's next-gen update, from reloading broken mods to problematic saves (some of which have been running for hundreds of hours). PC users complain that Ultrawide display support, added with the next-gen update, doesn't work properly, and frame rates still struggle in the densest areas of the game.

On the other hand, players experiencing Fallout 4 through the PS Plus service were not eligible for the Generation 9 upgrade early on at launch, and it took a few days for the issue to be resolved.
Steam Deck users have reported that their settings are being wiped by the update, which is another problem. Also, the creators of the Fallout London mod recently announced that the sudden release of the Gen 9 upgrade threw their project into disarray, forcing them to delay the mod just days before release.
Over the past few weeks, Fallout has been on a resurgence, with numbers skyrocketing thanks to the success of the Fallout TV series. It's definitely a huge leap, and a boom in popularity for Bethesda.
