The story of Kerman war and its end
Battle of Kerman
In 1209 AH and according to Ghalib's narration, on June 17, 1794 AD, the incident of killing people took place in the city of Kerman. When Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar conquered the city of Kerman in this event; He ordered to blind all the men of the city and to rape 8,000 women and girls of Kerman, because the people of Kerman supported the last king of the Zandiyeh dynasty named Lotf Ali Khan Zand.
After this incident, the ruler of Bam arrested Lotfo Ali Khan and Agha Mohammad Khan brutally killed him in Tehran.
Agha Mohammad Khan's efforts to infiltrate the city
– The trick of using the ball:
Agha Mohammad Khan's decision after the siege of Kerman was to fence the city with the cannons he had with him. destroy This plan was unsuccessful due to the special method of building a fence in Iran. This is because the construction of the lower parts of the wall was thicker than the upper parts, and the defender could quickly repair the damaged upper parts.
– The trick of digging a tunnel (narrow path from underground):
Aghamohammed Khan's idea was to bring his men under the city wall through the Negev excavation and destroy the city wall with gunpowder explosion and enter Kerman. Therefore, Agha Muhammad Khan's men were able to expand the Negev to under the wall of Kerman with continuous and round-the-clock efforts, but the Negev was destroyed by 100 soldiers of Lotf Ali Khan using gunpowder, and Khan Qajar's efforts were unsuccessful.
Kerman famine
Among the effective factors in Kerman's famine, we can point out the suggestions of economic experts regarding the possibility of prolonging the siege, Lotf Ali Khan's lack of attention to the recommendations, and the lack of provisions. After the beginning of the siege of Kerman, Agha Mohammad Khan ordered to close all the canals that reach Kerman and in this way, cause thirst and dehydration to the people of Kerman, but this was foreseen by Lotf Ali Khan and the wells and canals His order was to dig a hole in the city so that the people of Kerman would not suffer from water during the siege.
During this period, the Mujtahid of Kerman wrote a letter to Agha Mohammad Khan and requested permission for the return of 9 or 10 thousand people from the Gharba living in Kerman to their homeland, although there was no expectation that Agha Mohammad Khan would agree to such a request and it would be detrimental to him in terms of war. But despite the fact that he was a pious person and a person of grace; He agreed to this request and wrote a letter in his own handwriting in response to this request and sent it to Mujtahid Kerman.
People who did not manage to leave Kerman; Their situation had become so bad that they ate dead bodies due to extreme hunger and their usual food was wood shavings, palm kernels and tree leaves.
Tehreek Agha Mohammad Khan
Lotf Ali Khan Zand and his entourage provoked Agha Mohammad Khan and this caused the formation of this incident. Mocking Shah Qajar and igniting the fire of his hatred even more provoked him. The people and women of Kermani, every evening, read poems satirizing Agha Mohammad Khan from the towers connected to the gate and mocked his eunuchship. Also, this action of Lotf Ali Khan in striking a coin in his own name caused Agha Muhammad Khan to tear out the eyes of Lotf Ali Khan's seven-year-old son (Fathullah) with his hands and behead him.
Lotf Ali Khan's mistakes in the battle of Kerman
Lotfali Khan Zand's successive mistakes were considered to be one of the other influential factors in this massacre. The most important mistakes made by him are:
> One of Lotf Ali Khan's mistakes can be mentioned his attack on Agha Mohammad Khan's fans. By preparing a list of Agha Muhammad Khan's friends, he issued an order to confiscate their property and arrest and kill them. For example, one of Agha Muhammad Khan's friends was named Agha Ali Kermani, whose children were imprisoned by Lotf Ali's order, and his two daughters who married Without the father's permission, they considered it invalid; He married himself and his uncle.
> Economic experts warned Lotf Ali before the start of the clashes that there is a possibility of prolonged siege and lack of supplies in the city. Therefore, it is better to procure enough wheat and general necessities from around the city and store them in the city's warehouses, but Lotfo Ali Khan replied to them that such a thing might frighten the people and did not accept this proposal.
After proving the treason of one of the city's military commanders named Qasim Khan Jopari, Lotf Ali Khan Zand issued his death sentence, while half of the top gunners of the city were relatives of Qasim Khan and the people of Jopar and Mahan. He even killed Qasim Khan's relatives. After issuing such an order, he did not remove him from key positions; Because of this, the guards of the eastern wall of the city (relatives of Qasim Khan) paved the way for the entry of Ahmad Khan Makui and other troops of Agha Muhammad Khan into the city.
> Lotf Ali Khan Zand, who was satisfied with his insufficient and little information; He wanted to fight with Agha Mohammad Khan. His statements in the last days of the Kerman resistance, which indicated its fall, are as follows:
I couldn't imagine that Agha Mohammad Khan would attack us with so many troops, and I didn't think that he would personally become the commander of the army and join the attackers.
Finally, the battle of Kerman
As a result of the betrayal of the guards of the eastern wall, Agha Mohammad Khan went to the city and committed crimes such as blinding all or most of the people of the city and also blinding Lotf Ali Khan Zand. He also ordered to attack the women and girls of the city; Because they supported Lotf Ali Khan.
Agha Mohammad Khan, after he carried the half-life body of Lotf Ali Khan with him in various cities of Iran as a sign of victory in front of the people; He was taken to Tehran and subjected to further persecution. Then he ordered to kill the ninth and last king of Zandiye dynasty; They stuffed a handkerchief with a stick in his throat and strangled him. Some people also believe that he committed suicide. His body is buried in the old bazaar of Tehran and in Imamzadeh Zaid. Today, the marketers of Tehran have put a tombstone on his soil at their own expense.
