Amazon has apparently ignored copyright law in its development of artificial intelligence

Viviane Ghaderi, a former Amazon executive, has sued the company for alleged misconduct and discrimination. He also said that his manager asked him to ignore the copyright law in teaching the company's artificial intelligence model. According to his chief executive, all competitors are doing the same in the field of artificial intelligence.

According to The Register, Vivian Qadri's complaint alleges that Amazon was apparently so desperate to compete in the artificial intelligence market that it violated copyright laws. Dr. Qadri is an artificial intelligence researcher and worked in Amazon's Alexa and LLM division and achieved several promotions, but was later suddenly demoted and then fired, he claims.

The lawsuit alleges that Vivian Qadri received orders from her superiors advising her to violate copyright law guidelines. His manager said that competing artificial intelligence companies also do the same in such situations. Qadri then met with a representative from the legal department to explain his concerns, but to his surprise, he was told to ignore copyright policies to improve results.

This case comes at a critical time, because companies developing artificial intelligence models are under pressure regarding copyright infringement of educational resources. Last year, several authors and the New York Times accused OpenAI of illegally using their work to train its AI models.

Vivian Qadri's case is still ongoing, and the lawsuit includes 7 cases, including violations of the labor law against discrimination, pregnancy leave law, harassment and failure to protect whistleblowers.
